Livingstone Founder Embarks on New AI Venture

Simon Leuty Founder of Livingstone

Livingstone Founder Simon Leuty is leaving the company to embark on a new chapter with an AI Venture. We explore the legacy we leaves behind.

We’re proud to acknowledge a pivotal moment in Livingstone’s story as Simon Leuty, the original founder and visionary behind the company, embarks on a new chapter with the launch of a cutting-edge artificial intelligence venture.

Simon founded Livingstone in 2010 with a clear mission: to bring clarity, intelligence and control to the complex world of software asset management. Through his leadership and relentless focus on innovation, Livingstone rapidly evolved into a four-time Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ Leader, respected globally for helping enterprise organizations optimize their software and cloud portfolios.

Under Simon’s guidance, Livingstone pioneered data-driven intelligence platforms that enabled clients to gain better visibility of their software estates, drive out waste, and reduce financial and compliance risk. These early foundations are what continue to differentiate our business and underpin the services we deliver today.

In recent years, following the acquisition of Livingstone by the Trustmarque Group in 2023, Simon took on a broader innovation role within the Group, working closely with Simon Williams, Trustmarque Group CEO, to shape new technology initiatives and drive forward-thinking strategies across the organisation.

Commenting on the news, Simon Williams, said: “Simon is well-loved across the business and while we will certainly miss his visionary leadership, we are thrilled to see him pursue this new venture.”

Lisa Maines, Managing Director at Livingstone said: "Simon built more than a business—he created a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement that still shapes how we operate today. As we continue to evolve and grow, we're proud to carry forward the ethos he championed: combining data intelligence with hands-on expertise to deliver measurable value for our clients."

Simon’s new venture, set to focus on ethical and impactful applications of AI across industries, is an exciting evolution for someone who has always been at the forefront of technological change. He officially departed on 31 March 2025, and now he will devote his energy to this new pursuit.

Reflecting on his journey, Simon shared:
“My 13 years at Livingstone, and two years at the Trustmarque Group have been immensely rewarding. I’m deeply appreciative of Simon Williams’ exceptional leadership and the teams I’ve had the honour to collaborate with. As I move forward with my new venture, I’m eager to leverage the knowledge and experiences to drive meaningful advancements in AI and contribute positively to society.”

While Simon’s focus now shifts to AI, his impact on Livingstone is enduring with AI embedded in several of its services like Contract Intelligence and Acuity. The business he built continues to thrive under new leadership, driven by the same purpose: helping organisations take control of their software and cloud investments.
